Commander Price, whose death was non-combat related, was a native of Pottstown, Pennsylvania.

He was graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1993 with a degree in Human Behavior and Leadership. He was commissioned in the United States Navy and subsequently graduated from Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL training with Class 193.

Commander Price's assignments included: SEAL Team FOUR (1994 -1997), SEAL Team TWO (1997 - 2001), Naval Special Warfare Unit TEN (2001 - 2002), United States Special Operations Command Central (2002 - 2004), SEAL Team FOUR (2004 - 2007), United States Naval Forces Central Command (2007 - 2008), and Joint Special Operations Command (2008 - 2010).

From November 2010 to May 2011, Commander Price was assigned to Combined Forces Special Operations Component Command - Afghanistan and served as Director, Special Operations Planning Liaison Element to Regional Command South.
