The ceremony of assuming of duties took place at the Army Headquarters in Sri Jayewardenepura, in the presence of Senior Military Officers, dignitaries, and other distinguished guests by following military formalities and religious blessings on Tuesday, 31 December 2024. The newly appointed Commander of Army, was warmly welcomed and accorded a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honor by the troops of the Sri Lanka Artillery, in line with military traditions, upon his arrival at the premises.

Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo, an esteemed Officer with 35 years of illustrious military career in the Sri Lanka Army, has taken helm as 25th Commander of the Sri Lanka Army.
